Bridge blue's.. again...
Being in the East Cowes community, the main topic this week seems to be the floating bridge is out of action, yet again due to ongoing repairs. It has been a long run of teething problems which renders East Cowes a little "out there solo". It has always been difficult with the "one road and in and out" idea, but that is what we like about it, right?
It is lovely that East Cowes doesn't have a large majority of through traffic, but the floating bridge is a useful link for businesses. This is exactly why we need more businesses in East Cowes. A more vibrant high street. Full shops and good footfall.
We haven't been here long, but it is abundantly clear that the promised regeneration of East Cowes is long overdue. And we for one, can't wait.
Let's see some growth in the community. Not new houses necessarily... but a sustainable economy to support the existing inhabitants. Vibrant night life, vibrant shopping experiences and a bustling community supported by itself, whether the floating bridge works or not.
